The Politics, Philosophy, and Economics major at The King’s College teaches students the fundamental principles of these three “ruling disciplines.” Oxford University created the first PPE degree in 1920 for training leaders of the British Empire. It is the curriculum of statesmen for leadership in any important sphere of life. King’s unique PPE program strengthens this tradition with a coherent core and a biblical grounding. We study the masterworks of each discipline, including the works of Plato and Aristotle, Augustine and Anselm, James Madison, Abraham Lincoln, Adam Smith, and F.A. Hayek. This major explores who we are as human beings: what and how we know (Philosophy), how we live together and govern ourselves (Politics), and how we think about wealth and poverty (Economics), because, as Jesus Christ observed, how we handle those things reveals what—or who—we treasure the most.
Minors add specialty in an additional discipline, which can communicate expertise to graduate schools or prospective employers.
Students in the Culture and the Arts minor study the cultural productions of world cultures and societies: architecture, sculpture, painting, literature, music, drama, religion, and philosophy.
The business management minor equips students from any major with a range of essential management skills, including managerial decision-making, project management, organizational design, and marketing.
The finance minor equips students to understand financial modeling, investments, and how financial markets function.
The History minor provides students with an interdisciplinary introduction to the key questions and methods in understanding what events, peoples, and ideas brought humans to the contemporary world.
The International Business minor provides students with a broad-based understanding of key issues in international commerce, politics, and economic development, and offers students the chance to explore opportunities in the global marketplace.
In the journalism minor, students learn about reporting and writing as well as opinion, magazine, and advanced feature writing journalism. Students can submit to the campus newspaper and hear presentations from top journalists funded by the The John McCandlish Phillips Journalism Institute.
Students who minor in Literature will encounter a broad range of imaginative works, including the epics of ancient Greece and Rome, the history of poetry in the English language, the plays of Shakespeare, and a sampling of classics from Europe and America.
The media studies minor trains students to examine our society’s conversation with itself and understand how it relates to our public and private choices in areas such as entertainment, newsgathering and life in our ever-changing democracy.
In the Museum Studies minor and concentration, students will learn museum management and museology, as well as how museums communicate historical narratives outside of a traditional academic setting. This minor will prepare students to work in nonprofit arts management, educational programming, archival library work, or any number of related fields.
The minor in Technology, Innovation and Design provides students the opportunity to explore various facets of technology and its influence in contemporary culture while also pursuing some basic, highly-sought-after design and technology skills.
The pre-law minor prepares students to read and evaluate complex legal materials through courses in constitutional law, literature, legal issues, and financial accounting.
The International Affairs minor provides students with an interdisciplinary introduction to the key questions, ideas, and institutions that animate contemporary relations among peoples and states.
The theology minor builds upon the biblical and theological training that all students receive as part of the Core to equip graduates to bring the light of Christ into their careers and communities in ways appropriate to their callings.
Through its commitment to the truths of Christianity and a biblical worldview, The King’s College seeks to transform society by preparing students for careers in which they help to shape and eventually to lead strategic public and private institutions, and by supporting faculty members as they directly engage culture through writing and speaking publicly on critical issues.

The King’s College awards scholarships based on academic merit and resonance with our mission, and third-party scholarships provide another way to fund your education. Scholarships never need to be repaid.
Most of the scholarships below are open to domestic students, freshmen and transfers, from any educational background. There are a few that are specifically for homeschooled students, which are labeled accordingly.
Some of these scholarships are also open to international students, and these are marked with an asterisk (*). See the bottom of the page for additional scholarships intended specifically for international students, military members, and veterans.
Your FAFSA will determine what grants you qualify for—both from The King’s College and from federal and state government. Grants are need-based and do not need to be repaid.
The King’s Grant is awarded to students who demonstrate need. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for this grant. The King’s Grant is awarded at the discretion of the Office of Financial Aid. The grant is reevaluated each year the FAFSA is completed.
By completing the FAFSA, students are eligible to be considered for the Federal Pell Grant and Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant. Eligibility is determined by information provided on the FAFSA. Students are automatically considered for federal grants; no separate application is required.
TAP helps eligible New York residents pay tuition at approved schools in New York State. Depending on the academic year in which you begin study, an annual TAP award can be up to $5,000. Because TAP is a grant, it does not have to be paid back.
The King’s College is participating in the Enhanced Tuition Awards program which provides tuition awards to students who are New York State residents. Recipients will receive $6,000 through a combination of their TAP award, ETA award, and a match from The King’s College.
Many students have used federal and private loans to fund a quality education that would otherwise be out of reach. King’s students far outpace the national loan repayment rate.
By completing the FAFSA, students are automatically eligible to take out loans in their name through the Direct Stafford Loan Program. All students are pre-approved, and no credit check is required. Students with financial need may receive a portion of their Stafford Loan as a Subsidized Loan.
First, students will need to complete entrance counseling and fill out the Master Promissory Note. Then, they will accept subsidized and unsubsidized loans in the Student Portal. For more instructions, see our step-by-step Stafford Loan Instructions.
Parents of students who have completed the FAFSA are eligible to apply for the Direct Parent PLUS Loan, to cover the student’s balance as well as indirect expenses up to the total cost of attendance, pending credit approval. If the parent’s loan application is denied, the student may borrow an additional $4,000 in their unsubsidized Stafford loan. Apply at studentloans.gov. For more instructions, see our step-by-step Parent PLUS Loan Instructions.
